Set in a dystopian future, Salesman Syd March (Caleb Landry Jones) works for Lucas Clinic, a facility that replicates celebrity diseases for paid public consumption. The idea behind the phenomenon is the ability to provide a “biological communion” between stars and their fans. In an attempt to make a little bit of money on the side, Syd discovers a way to sneak viruses out of the tightly-monitored office and begins selling them through the black-market disease trade. When one of his assignments is to collect a virus from his personal star obsession, starlet Hannah Geist (Sarah Gadon), Syd can’t resist and injects himself with her disease, not realizing that what she had may be fatal. He’s now forced to find someway to cure it before time runs out.
