Ethan Wate (Alden Ehrenreich) can’t wait to graduate and get out of the small Southern town of Gatlin. His mother died recently and his father, overcome by grief, shuts himself in a room all day, claiming he’s writing a book. Ethan has dreams about a girl he’s never met. In them, he’s trying to hold on to the girl’s hand in order to save her life, but the dream always ends badly. When a new girl named Lena Duchannes (Alice Englert) shows up at school and she’s the girl from his dreams, he finds himself instantly attracted to her. Together, they uncover dark secrets about their respective families, their history and their town. Based on the young adult novel Beautiful Creatures by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl.
