Chloé is a young Canadian doctor from Quebec who travels to Israel and the Palestinian territories to work as an obstetrician. She lives in Jerusalem and works in Ramallah with the Red Crescent under the supervision of a French doctor named Michel, to monitor the pregnancies of young women. Chloé develops friendships with many of the people she meets, including her next door neighbor Ava; a patient named Rand, Rand’s militant older brother and their younger brother, who dreams of leaving Ramallah. Through these relationships, she learns more about life in the disputed territory.
