Filmmaker Stefan Ivanov returns to his homeland to search out the last wandering Gypsies of Bulgaria. Like his father and his grandfather, Tatako is a street musician. Veska prepares to attend a betrothal fair. Rady loves his job as a bear trainer. An old widower prays before the altar he’s erected to his wife in his garden ; another man cuts up old televisions to recover the iron, because his work as a tinsmith is no longer in demand. Together they make up the Roma community, a nomadic people with ancient traditions that are difficult to maintain in a constantly changing world. Ivanov tries to understand their lifestyle and their unique way of coping with difficulties and their irrepressible desire for freedom.
