Linda Sinclair, a reserved, single English teacher (Julianne Moore) comes out of her shell to help a former student, Jason Sherwood (Michael Angarano), realize his dreams of becoming a playwright. She presents his play to the school’s drama teacher (Nathan Lane) and together they convince the principals to allow them to stage it at the high school. However, when Linda gets too involved with Jason, things begin to fall apart.
