A modern day romance set in the city of Mumbai, India. Every day over 5,000 dabbawallas deliver hot lunches prepared by housewives to their busy husbands in the city. Widower Saajan (Irrfan Khan) accidentally receives a lunchbox prepared by a young neglected housewife, Ila (Nimrat Kaur). The two begin sending each other letters through the lunchbox.
