Simon (James McAvoy), a fine art auctioneer mixed up with an underworld gang, becomes involved in stealing a painting from his own auction house. He tries to double-cross the gang, claiming he has amnesia about the location of the painting. He then enlists Elizabeth (Rosario Dawson), a charismatic hypnotherapist, in an effort to recover his memory. As boundaries between desire, reality and hypnotic suggestion begin to blur, the stakes rise faster and more dangerously than any of the players could have anticipated.
